chapter 4
Koki’s hospital room
“ Where am I?”
“ The hospital, you idiot...what the HELL were you thinking?” Ueda responded
“ I wasn’t”
Ueda just nodded.
After telling Koki how he came back and found him lying unconscious by the hotel pool with a deep gash on the side of his head, and 10 or more bottles lying around him. He called their manager and told him that he had to take care of something, or in this case someone, and that he wouldn’t be back until the next day.
“ That explains the bandage wrapped around my head and the splitting headache then.” Koki laughs grimly. “ Who else knows apart from the two of us?”
Ueda just nodded to the left hand corner of the room and there he saw Yuichi and Junno asleep in the chairs. It’s a good thing that too since the last thing Koki needed right now was Kame to get wind of his actions.
Ueda was about wake the others when the doctor came in the room, inadvertently waking the other two ( who luckily enough were far enough part that they couldn’t give themselves away in their sleep) for him. They all watched as the doctor checked out Koki’s head wound and took his vitals, maru looked as if he would like nothing more than to smack him in the head for last night’s incident but knowing that wouldn’t be the best way to heal his injury, he restrained himself. Instead his eyes told Koki quite clearly what he wanted to do to him. Junno just looked worried and gave Koki a tenative smile in return.
“ How are you feeling Tanaka- san? You gave your friends here quite the scare last night?”
“ Other than my killer headache, I feel alright...I guess.” Koki said with a shrug
“ How’s his head doc?” Ueda asked. “ We have a concert to give tonight and we need to know if he can still perform?”
“ Hmm....let’s get one more x-ray and CT Scan and then I’ll answer that question,okay?”
They all nodded as Koki was taken down to get his tests done. While he was gone they wondered if they should tell Kame about Koki.
“ Does Jin know, Ueda?” Ueda shook his head.
“ Yes, and he’s agreed not to tell Kazuya about it for the time being....but in exchange I had to tell him why.”
They both stared at him like they wanted to kill him at any moment, as Ueda was a boxer and the strongest out of all of them...accept maybe Koki...they thought better of it.
“ Besides, all I said to him was that Koki was the one with the reasons for not wanting Kame to know and as his friend it’s best to let Koki tell him those reasons himself...when the time is right. That and I threatened to send him on a one way trip to the moon if he so much as uttered Koki’s name. Kame thinks we're out sight seeing right now, so we cleared that hurdle for the time being anyway.”
Both looked somewhat relieved by his explanation, after 3 hours the doctor came in with Koki right behind being wheeled in by the nurse. They all looked at the doctor with apprehension in their eyes, waiting with baited breath as the doctor took one last look at Koki’s test results. The doctor finally looked at them and said....
“ I am ready to answer your question from before...after running the CT and X-ray, there was no damage done to his brain. It appears to have been just a flesh wound and he does have a mild concussion. But nothing to suggest that he can’t get back to work right away.” All three looked relieved and smiled at each other.
“ I am going to write you a prescription for some painkillers for your head and oh and you have no permanant liver damage either, since I expect your friend over there ( here he looks at Ueda) got you here just in time so we can pump your stomach and give you fluids to absorb some of what you drank.”
“ Thank you doctor?” Koki said.
“ I’ll go and write your discharge papers so you can get out of here and get back to work. You are the second “T” in Kat-tun right.” To say that the others were shocked is an understatement as their eyes popped out and went rolling across the floor somewhere.
“ My daugter is a fan of yours and don’t worry I won’t tell her about Tanaka-san and what happened. It’s not something that your fans need to know anyway, am I right?”
Everyone nodded as the doctor walked out of the room as he passed by Ueda, the doctor appeared to be whispering something to Ueda. Junno was about to tell Koki off for making them worry and for the stupid thing he just did, when Maru’s phone rang and his face froze when he looked at the caller ID...it was Kame...
“ H-hello?”
“ Hey guys where are you, we need to get to rehearsel?”
“ Um....I gotta go.” with that Maru hung up leaving a very confused Kame on the other end.
Yuichi grabs Ueda and Junno and takes them into the hallway for private chat.
“ Let’s just tell kame that he’s here and then leave the rest up to Koki.” Junno said and Maru agreed with him. Ueda on the other hand was not so sure.
“ We can make something up and leave the rest up to Koki, alright Ueda.” Ueda just nodded.
Meanwhile back the hotel... this happened::
“ What was that about, I wonder?” he said aloud.
Now as luck would have it ( Kame’s...not Jin’s) Jin walked in the room and was immediately assaulted with questions by the youngest member of the group. Though refusing to answer any of Kame’s questions no matter how much it pained him, all he could do was give him a sympathetic look. Luckily Jin was in on what the others were about to do and they had Junno call him and warn him that Kame would react this way when maru hung up on him, since maru made him worry by hanging up like he did. It also didn’t help that Kame couldn’t get a hold of Koki and that is when he really started to get scared, since there were very few times that Koki never answered his cell phone.
Kame was on the verge of all but strangling Jin when he got a message from Maru saying that he should get to the hospital before Koki was discharged. “ Koki’s in....why didn’t you tell me before now that Koki was....” He couldn’t finish his sentence as his mind went blank and after grabbing his jacket, and pulling his friend to his feet he rushed out the door...with Jin hot on his heels and both made their way to the hospital and their friend. It’s a good thing Jin had the sense to drive since Kazu was in no condition too.
