Chapter 5

Kame rushes to the hospital

Now, it’s a good thing that Jin won fight over the car keys for two reasons: one) Kame was in no condition to drive anywhere and two) it was Jin’s car that they were in now as kame forgot where he parked his and Jin didn’t want anything to them or the car. Jin was trying to concentrate, which was made difficult since he had a very angry....very worried Kazuya bouncing around in the seat next to him.

“ Faster, Jin!” Kame all but screamed at the top of his lungs which made Jin wince from the sudden outburst.

“ I am not getting a ticket and besides what good would either one of us be to koki if we wound up in the hospital as well?” Jin tried but failed to keep the annoyance out of his voice and glared at kame.

kame was looking out the window now and failed to see Jin glaring at him, which was a good thing since he probably would have said something that he didn’t want to say...well not yet anyway and not to the man sitting not but a few inches away from him.

“ I am sure he’s alright, koki’s a tough one...you know that. Remember this is the same guy that came to work with a badly broken wrist and refused to let anyone do anything for him.” Jin stated matter a factly trying to comfort the youngest member of the group. Kame just stared out the window seemingly ignoring his friend. As he remembered the day that Koki had broke his wrist while trying to get a frightened ran-chan out of an old chimney, after she had gotten away from her master chasing a squirrel and Kame couldn't get get her all by himself, so naturally, he called Koki to help him, Then it happened in a blur, just as the he got the little dog out the whole thing collapsed on him and a large chunk landed with a sickening crunch on Koki's arm. almost shattering his wrist beyond repair. Tears welled up in his eyes and he started sobbing harder and harder as he recalled the way Koki acted and how it pained Kame that he wasn’t allowed to help him do anything, except of course for going to the bathroom that is.

“ What do you think happened to him, Jin?” Kame asked between sobs

It was only then that Jin had realized that Kame was crying his eyes out next to him, not that he wasn’t paying attention to his plight mind you, but Kame didn’t like to cry in front others if he can avoid it...call it a man’s pride if you will.

“ I don’t know, Kame...I...” being unable to finish his sentence as he promised Ueda he wouldn’t say anymore than need be, it broke his heart to do this to his friend but he also slightly feared Ueda since Ueda could pick him up and throw him over his shoulder like a sack of flour and carry him without breaking a sweat.

“How close are we to the hospital?” Jin just shrugged and said

“ Maybe less than an hour.” he looked sideways at Kame who seemed to satisfied and finally stopped fidgeting like frightened rabbit.

Meanwhile at the hospital

Ueda was alone with Nakamaru in the cafeteria while Junno was keeping Koki company upstairs. “ I doubt very much if your plan’s going to work, Yuichi. I mean Koki can as stubborn as Kame..sometimes more so. I mean if he doesn’t tell him soon it’s going to completely destroy him, since he has felt this way longer than even you know"- at this Ueda unconsciously rubbed his forearm, an action that didn’t go unnoticed by maru who decided not say anything about for the time being.

“ I know that Tat-chan, but we need to try something to get those two together. The way Taguchi tells it, it’s hard on Kame as well. Koki won’t even look at him for longer than he has to on stage and all but ignores him off stage. He also says that Kame won’t confess b/c he wants Koki to do it and he even planned to trick him into doing confessing to him before.....well you know.”

All Ueda could do was shake his head. “ So, where do we go from here if things stay the way are now if our plan fails?” The voice came from the doorway just behind Ueda, who turned around and saw Junno. Junno walked in and smiled at Maru and place a hand on his shoulder which was all he was allowed in such a public place. All three looked from one to the other but nobody had any clue as to what to do next. “ I thought you were with Koki?” Maru asked.

“ I was but his pain medication finally kicked in and he fell asleep with tears in his eyes.” Junno said. “ We started talking about him and his feelings for kame and the reasons as to why he couldn’t bring himself to confess, though I have this feeling that he's hiding something, and the more he talked the harder he cried, he eventually felt his meds starting to take effect and laid down to sleep, so I came to find you two.” Junno said by way of an explanation as Maru and Ueda continued to stare at him. Seeing as Koki was going to be out for the next hour they all sat in the cafeteria, which now they had took the time to notice, was more like a cafe than a cafeteria. It had brown panelled walls that went half way up to blend smoothly with light tanned walls. Over head there were low hanging lamps that gave off a soft light as opposed to the harsher, more powerful ceiling lights in the main building. Over all it gave one the feeling that you weren't at a hospital but, rather, in high class establishment. There was something comforting about that, though none of them could place why. While they talked about tonight’s concert and while Koki slept this is what happened in the car. Yes, Kame and Jin are still driving...sometimes Jin was a little too careful of a driver.

Meanwhile....back in the car,

“ Hey Jin?”

“ Hmm...?”

“ You know, the first thing I am going to do when I get there is kill Koki for not telling me!!” Anger now pulsed through Kame’s veins, he didn’t know what he was angry at more....the fact that Koki didn’t call tell him where he was or what happened and how, or his own stupidity for not taking matters into his own hands and forcing koki tell him what’s bothering him or...or.....he didn’t know why he was so angry to be honest. All he knew was that he was pissed and it had something to do with koki.

Jin, who looked genuinely shocked by this since Kame’s never gotten mad at koki before...not even when he messed up the choreography during practice, just looked kame.

“ Ka...Kame...there’s no need to...” Jin really didn’t know what to say to his sudden outburst. “ I am definitly calling Maru and to warn them that Kame’s in one of his famous tantrums.”

Back at the hospital, all three were in Koki’s room talking when Maru’s phone rang.

“ That was Jin, they just pulled into the parking lot and, by the sound of things, we...or rather you- here maru looks pointedly at koki- have a very pissed off and frightened turtle heading our way.”

“ I figured he would react that way and if I know Kazuya, he’ll be shouting...where’s Koki...I’ll kill him ( in perfect imitation of Kame) all the down the hallway.”

Sure enough, it was how Koki had called it...there was Kame running down the long hallway shouting the very same words that koki had foretold. “ WHERE’S KOKI?!! I’M GOING TO KILL HIM!!!

Upon hearing Kame’s shouts Maru and Ueda were running out the door almost as fast as Kame was running to it, only Junno stayed behind. “ Well Koki, it’s just as you said. By the way, how did you know what Kame’s reaction was going to be upon reaching the hospital? I mean, he’s never gotten angry at you for anything.” He wondered with genuine curiosity.

“ I just knew I guess, maybe it’s b/c I feel the way I do about him that allows me to read his heart...and that’s what was in it..apart from pain and fear that is. “ he chuckled lightly...but stopped as it made his hurt even more. At this point Kame burst into Koki’s room followed closely by Jin, Maru and Ueda all waiting on tenter hooks for Kame’s reaction. Kame, meanwhile, just walked over and stood by Koki’s bed giving Koki a death glare that would have made KT’s resident Dictator-sama afraid. “ Leave us.” Was all Kame said in a tone so low and so out of character that no one bothered to argue and ran quickly from the as if the Akuma himself was after them. Once outside all three had the exact same thought “ He’s sooooo dead”
