I finally figured this damn thing out,lol.

Chapter 7

Koki's hospital room:

For a long time Kame just looked at Koki, wanting to whack him in the head rather harshly, but he knew that wouldn’t help Koki’s head in the slightest right now...so he settled on yelling at him instead.

“ Why didn’t you tell me where you were? Why didn’t you tell me that you were in some sort of accident and that Ueda had to bring you to the hospital?”

koki just looked at him with sadness in his eyes, he put his head in his hands...not wanting to look at the object of his affections knowing that he had hurt him and that he’s still hurting him, not to mention Kame's beyond angry; it’s not like Koki could blame him either...he chose this. He made the conscious decision NOT to tell him where he was. He chose to distance himself from Kazuya, to keep from what happened to his parents, to happening to them. He didn’t want to run the risk of losing him forever. He loved kame way too much and he let his fears turn into a vicious cycle of running away and trying and failing to save himself. Deep down in his heart he knows he can’t save himself...not to say that he hasn’t tried.

“ Dammit Tanaka....answer me!” kazu was almost pleading with tears forming just in the corners of his eyes.

It was only then that Koki looked up at the only one that can save him, it was only when he heard Kazuya use his surname for the first time in all of the years they have been together as a group, as friends.

“ I...I...just didn’t want you to worry that’s all.” he said. Which, ironically enough, it wasn’t what he wanted to say....quite the reverse to be honest.

Kame was about to respond when the door opened and the doctor came in carrying not one, but two prescriptions with him. Kame looks at the doctor and then at the little bags he was carrying and looked away as the tears threatened to fall. Now, the doctor being the intelligent guy that he is...just smiled at Kazuya and spoke to Koki.

“ Time for one last check up and then you can be on your way, Tanaka-san.”

Koki just nods and looks at the wall just behind the doctor’s left shoulder, as Kame went and stood by the window so as to be out of the doctor’s way.

“ Well, everything sounds in order” he said as bent down over Koki’s head on the pretext of checking his head wound again and whispered..

“ You really should tell him, you know. I heard your friends talking as I was walking by and I won’t say anything about it either. It falls under the doctor/patient confidentiality clause and I don’t take pleasure in telling people other people’s business.”

koki just nods...or would if his head didn’t hurt so much.

“ Well Tanaka-san, you’re free to go back to work and I brought your medicine as well. One is the pain killers and...well..you know what the other is and for..but I would like it if someone could stay with you for a few days...just in case.” Here he looks Kazuya directly in the eyes for a reason kame couldn’t understand.

“ I want you back here in 5-6 weeks so I can re-check your head wound. See you both later.” With that the doctor left the two of them alone. At which point Kame went to back to trying to get answers out of koki.

“ You expect me to believe that, koki.? Don’t you trust me? Try again.”

Koki remained slient for a while trying to collect his thoughts...but he still couldn’t bring himself to tell kame the truth, to ask kame to rescue him from his self inflicted hell.

“ Fine. Whatever. Don’t tell me, but you’re staying in my hotel room for the next few days.”

Kame said and before he realized it, before he could stop them...he started to cry harder than he did in Jin’s car since the pain and the anger about what Koki wasn’t telling him and his behavior towards Kame, all of a sudden became to much for him to hold in anymore and he collapsed on the bed and threw himself in Koki’s arms, and he just sat there crying and asking “ why” over and over again. Kame’s tears seared at Koki’s heart and it became too much for him, yet he still didn’t offer up the explanation he knows Kame is entitled too. He knows that by trying to protect Kame he only wound up by hurting him even more and that really was the very last thing he ever wanted to do....unfortunately he ended up doing the very thing he was trying to avoid.

Eventually, Kame pulled away from the only person that makes him feel safe and after clearing his nose...he turns to Koki...

“ Come on, we better get going and you still need to sign your discharge papers.” he says with a small smile.

“ Alright.” Koki said after managing to find his voice, since he was sure it was hiding somewhere in the bottom of his stomach. After getting dressed they walked out into the hallway and made a beeline for the nurse’s station. After signing himself out and collecting the rest of his posessions they walk off to find the others.

As they approached the waiting area, the other four jumped to their feet so fast one would think that they were trying to sit on a hedgehog and started asking koki how he was doing.

“ I am fine guys, it wasn’t too serious and I can get back to work right away as well. But Doc said he didn’t want me to be alone for a few days though...just as a precautionary measure, so Kame’s forcing me to room with him until the end of our concert run” he told the others.

“ Well, I am glad you’re going to be okay Koki. I am glad Kame’s calm down as well after what I went through with him on the way over here. Man Koki, I don’t know how you do it and still have energy left over.” Jin said with a chuckle and relieve in his voice.

“ Do what?”

“ Put up with kame’s famous tantrums...they’re soooo exhausting.” He whined, which earned him a glare from Kame, an eye roll from Tatsuya and a double whack from Taguchi and Maru.

Koki just smiled and on the way back to the cars and the hotel, all he said was that he was way too used to them to notice....since he’s the one Kame runs to every time something bad happens or he becomes too stressed out. Now, upon hearing this Kame’s response was a punch in the arm and a smile.

“ Maybe the doc and everyone else is right....maybe I should tell him. It’s only fair and besides I owe it too him to tell him I how I feel about him, and to offer up the truth about what’s going on with me and hope that he forgives me.”

Was Koki’s only thought in the car on their way back to the hotel to get ready for that night’s performance.
