Summary: *avoids like the bubonic plague* This is a sequel the KoKame half of Rescue me, so you may want to read that one first...so you can understand this one better.
Chapter 3
Kame and koki walked in to face their friends, to say that Koki WASN’T nervous would be a great understatement. As soon as they walked in there was an immediate, albeit mixed, reaction from everyone in the room...Junno starting asking Koki if he was alright, Yuichi just hugged him, Jin and Ueda just stared at him. Jin walked cautiously towards Koki, uncertain of Koki’s state of mind until he saw Kazuya nod at him that it was alright.
“ I am sorry Jin, I shouldn’t have lost control like that and I can understand if you...” Koki couldn’t finish...apparently his voice is taking a page out of his boyfriend’s voice’s book and disappearing on him.
“ Forget it. You’re were right, I knew better than to joke like that in front of you knowing that is a sensitive issue and the one thing you fear above all else in this world, friends again?” He smiled
“ Yeah.” Koki smiled back and the turned to face Tatsuya who was just staring at him.
“Tat-chan....I....”
Ueda started walking towards Koki not sure what he wanted to say or do, all he knew was that he was still upset with him. Kame, sensing that there might be more trouble, automatically placed himself between his friend and his boyfriend.
“ Watch it, Ueda.” Kame warned with a hardened look.
“ Kazu...” Ueda started to say, but it was Junno who spoke first as he was the only one that had noticed the small fact that Ueda’s hand was balled up and that he was about to punch Koki.
“ Ueda...don’t..you of all people can relate to what he’s going through. You can understand why he’s afraid and why he acted the way he did. He got lost in the darkness again, after what that guy did to Kame right in front of him, and the fact that they're still trying to get it back under control doesn’t help, it brought his greatest fear back to the fore front of his thoughts. His nightmares are bad enough, he doesn’t need the one person in this room that fully understands to turn against him.” He said in pleading voice to try and keep his best friend from doing something stupid.
“ Oddly enough, as this is Junno after all, he’s right, Ueda.” Jin said.
“ Listen to him Tatsuya and on top of Junno being right, Kame’s not going to let you get any closer to him.” It was Yuichi that spoke next.
Ueda just gave Maru a ‘yeah, whatever kinda look’
“Don’t believe me..... then look for yourself.” Yuichi advised with raised eyebrows.
Ueda turned away from Maru and looked Kazu dead in the eyes and saw that he had a “ just try it and watch what I do to you” look in his eyes.
“Tatsuya, how would you feel if the situations were reversed and it was you and not Koki? If it was me not Kame?” Jin placed his hand on his boyfriend’s shoulder.
Ueda saw in Koki's eyes what the others did, in his heart he knows that they’re right. Finally, he turns back to face Koki and kame and everything he’s going through, his own fears that Jin is hepling him with and yes, he can understand. Yes, he would react the same way and suddenly finds that he would be as lost in his own darkness that Koki was. Yes, he really does understand everything and he no longer feels angry anymore.
“ It’s okay, Kame, I am not going to hit him. I am not mad anymore so you can move outta the way.” Even though he’s still unsure, he moves to stand just behind Koki’s right shoulder.
“Ueda...I am sorry for what I did to him...I...”
“Shh...its okay Joker, they’re right. I can understand and the same thing would have happened to me. I fear the same thing you do, though mine involves Bakanishi and not Kazuya, but I am not going to stop being your friend because of this so don’t worry.” he said with a sincere smile on his face. Upon hearing this Kazu could relax and concentrate on work and what to do for his boyfriend’s birthday since it was right before their camping trip. After a while the topic of conversation switched more trivial matters such as who their guest was on today’s taping of CKT and how best to torture Junno. As they were walking to the studio where the show is taped, take a guess as to who they all passed in the hallway. Koki, upon seeing the “ enemy” gaze in kazu’s direction, interlocked his fingers with his boyfriend’s sending a clear message to stay away. All of this kame missed as he was chatting away happily with Yuichi about sports and the latest video game that Junno beaten him at, the only thing he registered was the feel of Koki’s hand in his and smiled at that and squeezed back.
“ So, what’s everybody doing now since work is done?” Junno asked.
“ I am going to the club with Pi and Ryo, wanna come with Ueda?”
“ Nah, you go ahead and have fun. I am going to try and work on my solo and maybe go for a run. Just remember, I don’t care who you dance on all night as long as you come back.” Ueda said in a lower tone so only Jin could hear him.
“ I will, I promise.” Jin said in an equally lower tone and he gave Ueda light kiss and walked off to find his best friends.
“ What about you two?” Yuichi asked
“ We don’t have anything do that I can think of, do we Koki?”
“ Nope. What did you have in mind?”
“ How about a movie night, there is a movie that Maru wants to see and its playing at the theater right now.” Junno replied.
“ Yeah sure, why not.” Kokame said at the same time. To say that Koki and Kame had two separate brains would be considered a grave inaccuracy.
“ But there’s one thing, Junno, try and keep it down this time. We almost got kicked out last the last time we were there.” Warned Yuichi.
“ I will, but in my defense I couldn’t help it if the movie was funny” Junno said with a such an adorable pout that Maru couldn’t help but kiss him while Koki and Kame couldn’t help but to laugh. With that the four of them headed to the movies for a couples night out, unbeknownst to the four of them they were being watched. Miroku had hidden himself around a corner and caught every word of their conversation and quietly followed them, can we say stalker with this guy.
