Chapter 12 of Rescue Me
That night’s concert went off with only one or two minor problems...mainly Jin forgot the lyrics a couple of times and Koki screwed up on a couple of the dance moves, but Kame covered Koki’s mistakes and Junno covered for Jin...much to Jin’s annoyance, but he was grateful all the same as his brain kinda drifted off in Ueda’s direction. Jin just happen to look over in Maru’s direction where he was doing fan service with Ueda, Maru did something to him that Jin couldn’t quite catch but whatever it was it made Ueda pout in a really cute manner and the fans got a charge out of MaruDa....”When did Ueda become that damn cute?” he thought as the concert progressed.
After they got back to the hotel, Jin went off in search of Kame. He knocked on the door to the room that Koki now shared with Kame and waited for the door to open this time as he really needed to talk to him and not get kicked out for barging on them again.
“ Yes Jin?” Kame asked.
“ Um, can I come in? I wanted to talk to you about something?” He asked hesitantly, playing with the hem of his shirt.
“ Yeah sure.”
Jin smiled gratefully at Kame as he stood to the side to let Jin pass.
“ So, what’s up?” Kame asked with a hint of curiosity on his face, though he had a sneaking suspicion as to what Jin wanted but he just waited for Jin to answer his question.
“ Um...Oh hey Koki, I’m glad you’re still here as I’m hoping you can help me as well.”
“ Sure.” Koki said as he came out of the bathroom wearing nothing but a towel around his waist and a shower cap on his head since he couldn’t get his stitches wet, and after taking the annoying thing off his head, he went and sat in the chair next to the table.
“ Um, Kame...since I now know the real reason as to why you took our break up so well ( he smiles approvingly at Koki) I wanted to ask you if you knew what caused Pi to break up with me? I asked him why and he kept avoiding my question, he just kept saying that it just wasn’t meant for us to be together this way and that we should just remain friends. Since you and him talk a lot, I figured he might have told you.”
Kame thought for a bit before answering since he knew what the actual reason was, but he just wasn’t going to give Jin all the answers. He needs to realize on his own that it’s Ueda that he’s in love with and have been in love with this whole time.
“ Okay Jin, the only thing he told me was that you always seemed to be looking through him....instead of at him. When you two would hang out with rest of us in our dressing room, you seemed to act...differently, I think that was word he used.” was all Kame said.
“ Oh..okay. Um, Koki?”
“Yeah?”
“ When did you realize that you were in love with Kame? What I mean is....how did you know? What thoughts went through your head? Other than of the perverted variety.”
“ Nicely complicated questions Jin, I didn’t think you were capable of asking such things.” Koki joked.
“ Be nice to the poor guy, Koki.” Kame teased as he blew on his ear, sending a shiver down Koki’s spine momentarily distracting him from Jin’s questions.
“ It’s kinda hard to explain to be honest, as it varies from person to person. I can tell you that I was very confused in the beginning, wondering why I was thinking this way all of a sudden. But I have always seen Kazuya has my other half, whether we were just friends or something more. I think ( for me) it was just natural, I guess. While it was love at first sight for Kazuya over there, why do you ask?”
“ Um, I was just....it’s just that I....that I had keep thinking and dreaming about a certain someone and I can’t seem to get him out of my head and if I pieced the puzzle together right, it’s because of this person that caused my break up with Pi.” was all Jin said.
“ Who is it?” Kame and Koki said in unison.
“ Maybe we can help get the two of you together.” Koki said.
“ Its....nothing, forget I said anything. But thanks for your help anyway guys.”
Koki just looked at Kame as Jin walked out of their room.
“ I didn’t think he was capable of putting together cryptic hints like that.” Koki said in disbelief.
“ I know, it surprised me as well. Come on, I’ll rub your back now.”
Koki just smiled as he laid down on his stomach and let his boyfriend work the knots and tension out of his muscles.
Mean while, Jin went for a walk in an attempt to clear his head and by the time he got back to the hotel, it hadn’t worked. All it did was succeed in making him even more confused than before but his talk with Kame and Koki helped a little bit well, more than walking around the city did anyway. Two days pass and Jin is still waking up in the middle of the night still having those same cryptic dreams, but this last one was the worst one yet, since he saw the face of the person lying within the coffin. Now knowing the identity of the dead guy, he was beyond terrified, but it’s also the reason he’s calling Kame’s phone at two in the morning freaking out. Though he’s still not realized his feelings for Tatsuya, not surprising really since this is Jin that we're talking about.
Two Days Later......
“ Jin....why are you calling me at this hour?” Kame said
“ I am sorry, it’s just that I....I’m....”
“ Jin, Jin, Stop it. You’re rambling..take a deep breath and start over” Kame said while yawning.
“ It’s Tatsuya....is he okay? Is still alive?” Jin almost shouted through the phone.
Luckily, Kame put his phone on speaker so he wouldn’t lose his hearing. Kame couldn’t quite figure out why Jin was asking about Ueda all of a sudden and why he would think that something bad had happened to him.
“ What’s the matter with Bakanishi this time?” Koki asked his lover while stiffling a huge yawn.
“ I am not sure, he keeps going on about something happening to Ueda.” Kame said with his face in his pillow, trying to stay awake for his friend.
“ Kame?! Did you hear me?!!” This time Jin’s shout was so loud that it could wake the dead.
“ Jin, you’re yelling loud enough that the dead can hear you. Now, why are you asking about Tat-chan?”
“ It’s just that I....look can I talk about this in person? It’s important.” Jin pleaded.
“ S...sure, come over.” Koki said upon hearing the fear in his friend’s voice, being fully awake at this point.
Kame hung up and turned to face Koki.
“ He kept asking if Ueda was still alive. I don’t see why he wouldn’t be since he hasn’t cut himself since a week ago and besides, Maru’s with him and he wouldn’t try that in front him anyway.”
“ That and, Ueda wouldn’t actually go deep enough to kill himself anyway. He’s depressed and scared....not stupid.” Koki said
A few minutes later they heard a soft, but frantic knock on their door, as they both put their sweatpants on, as Koki opened the door to a very, very, VERY, white faced and shell shocked Jin. Jin just walked over and sat down at the table and stared into space, while Koki looked scared and Kame equally so.
